That’s my artist's statement in slogan form. Why?

My practice is intentionally expansive, but whether I’m creating a minimalist abstract or a pop-art portrait, “fun + fine” means blending the technical rigor and sophistication of fine art with a playful, subversive, or irreverent spirit. High-end with a wink. (This is also, to a great degree, how I approach most things in life.) 

In my art, I’ve always been drawn to the relationship between structure and play. I have discovered that they work beautifully together to create dynamic, cohesive, and balanced experiences. I start with intuition (energetic, spontaneous, expressive) and then rely on structure (often in the form of a structural overlay) to anchor and elevate it. The combination is my visual language, the bridge between expression and engagement - how I articulate, communicate, and connect.

The “for design” pillar harkens to the power of how art in context activates the total composition of a space. Contrary to the trope of ‘art as decor,’ I believe that art can reach its highest potential when it lives with us, vibes with us, and influences our daily energy and experience. The point isn’t for the art to match a fabric swatch, but rather intentional curation: when the art and the space it lives in (the palette, textures, architecture, function) are in harmony, the whole space becomes a visual-emotional ecosystem, and feels resolved in a uniquely sophisticated way. (This is also a powerful, intentional way to build a collection that feels authentic and personal, if collecting is a goal.)

My process begins and ends with the client.

Whether the goal is to select original works for a home, design a custom commission, or source limited edition prints for a commercial project, I work directly with each client to get a comprehensive understanding of the project scope, objectives, requirements and limitations, as well as the design aesthetic of the space and personal tastes of all relevant stakeholders.

My work style is flexible and responsive, from delivering on tightly-defined specs for a decisive designer to owning all aspects of advisory, production, framing, and installation for clients seeking end-to-end service.

Ultimately, I always aspire to offer both beauty and substance: something you've been searching for, a companion for your morning coffee, a warm welcome to your guests, or maybe the just-right punctuation for a precisely designed moment.
